Mighty Be Our Powers

Announcing the globalhealthU Winter Break Book Club!

The globalhealthU Winter Break Book Club is back! We will be reading Mighty Be Our Powers: How Sisterhood, Prayer, and Sex Changed a Nation at War by Leymah Gbowee. This tells the story of Leymah Gbowee, who lived through the Liberian Civil War as a struggling young mother. The book is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

As a part of the book club, you have the option of being in a small discussion group. You can fill out the form below, and you’ll be placed in a small group of GlobeMedders from across the network with whom you will discuss the book. You can also be a small group leader, who organizes and facilitates the group discussion. As a group, you can decide how much you would like to engage as a group and through what method, whether it’s via Skype, a Google Hangout, a facebook group, or an e-mail thread.

You will also have the opportunity to be a guest blogger for the GlobeMed blog. Guest bloggers will share their thoughts on the book and pose questions for the entire network to ponder and discuss.

Please fill out this form if you want to be in a small group discussion, a small group leader, OR a guest blogger!

Participation in the Winter Break Book Club is completely optional and you can choose your level of participation. We will officially start reading on Monday, December 17th, but you can start reading whenever you like and read at whatever pace you like. We hope Winter Break Book Club will allow GlobeMed to engage as a community around one topic.

I’m interested in blogging, but don’t want to be counted on. I’m not sure how long it will be until I can get a hold of the book!
