15 Founders in 15 Days – Kanu Tewari, Tufts University
by Maya Cohen on June 14, 2011
It’s Day 7 of getting to know our new chapter founders! We are excited to introduce Kanu Tewari from Tufts University. Kanu is rising junior who is studying biology and community health. Kanu is no stranger to the global health sector. Check out an excerpt from her inspiring application in which she describes her experiences while interning with Partners in Health:
“As a member of the Communications team, I covered issues ranging from cervical cancer vaccination initiatives taking place in Haiti’s Central Plateau to evaluating specifics of the Right to Health Care program in Boston… I also researched social and economic factors influencing women and children's health in Nepal, and the comparative advantage of the accompagnateur model in my own independent projects. Working in this setting I was not only able to learn immensely from and work alongside leaders in the global health field, but I was also able to observe the practical outcomes, problems and challenges associated with projects that are launched in communities around the world.”
As a fun way to get to know our new founders, we asked Kanu what her top five favorite things were. She replied with her “Top Five Places I Have Visited”:
1) Giza, Egypt
2) Agra, India
3) St. Petersburg, Russia
4) Ankara, Turkey
5) Athens, Greece
Kanu, you are going to be a great addition to the GlobeMed family! We wish you all best with your chapter at Tufts University!
