GlobeMed Alumni Mentorship Webinar

Part of the campaign imagine 2030, calls GlobeMed members to consider their future career and how they can advance global health equity. Almost all GlobeMed students question at one time or another how they will pursue a career in global health. While the field lacks defined career tracks, GlobeMed alumni are looking to help students to ease this question.

Alumni Bios
Maggie Carlin
MPH Student, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Maggie graduated from Northwestern University in 2008 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in global health. During her undergraduate career, she held the role of GlobeMed's Associate Director of Health Partnerships in the National Office. Following college, she worked for a year in administration of a network of community health centers in Chicago and is currently pursuing her MPH in Health Behavior & Health Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She hopes to work domestically in the field of urban community health with marginalized populations as a manager/administrator.
Liz Francis
Global Health Fellow, Weill Cornell Medical College
Liz is a Global Health Fellow at Weill Cornell Medical College who has developed and leds the college's Global Health Curriculum program (ghcurriculum.info). In addition, she initiated and works with the New York State Global Health Forum and has recently commenced a project on flu vaccination adherence in NYC. Liz graduated from the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State University with degrees in Pre-Med/Bio and Spanish in 2008. In 2005, she founded and then for three years directed GlobeMed Penn State. During that time, she worked to develop curricula efforts at Penn State and a partnership in Honduras. Previous research focused on the social implications surrounding clubbed foot in Honduras. Liz is on the board of the Campaign Team at Penn State University and loves GlobeMed outreach events!
Ron Li
Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine
Ron graduated from Northwestern University in 2009 with a major in molecular biology and a minor in political science. He worked in the national office of GlobeMed as the Director of Campaigns. Ron is now a first year medical student at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine, where he is currently involved with NU-AID, a medical-student run global health organization, and is leading the development of a service learning project for his college in partnership with a local inner city high school. Ron enjoys running, meeting new people, classical music, whistling, and going to the chocolate filled churros stand at Navy Pier.
Jonathan Lichkus
Boston University School of Medicine
Jonathan graduated from Penn State University in 2009 with a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a minor in Health Policy and Administration. He served as Co-President for the Penn State chapter and interned at the National Office this past summer. Jonathan is currently in his first year of medical school at Boston University and is planning on pursuing an MPH. He is interested in primary care, particularly family medicine, and community health. Jonathan enjoys playing basketball, living in Boston, and watching the Daily Show.
Divya Mallampati
Fulbright Student Researcher, The Freedom Foundation, India
Divya Mallampati graduated from Northwestern University in 2009 with a major in anthropology and a minor in global health. She worked with the national office as a director for globalhealthU and as a summit coordinator. Currently she is on a Fulbright Fellowship in India studying the integration of family planning with HIV/AIDS care and support programs. Starting in August 2010, she will be entering medical school where she hopes to pursue an MD/MPH and continue working with others on issues surrounding global health and social justice.
Kristina Redgrave
Office of Governor Ted Strickland (Ohio)
Kristina graduated from Northwestern University in 2008 with a degree in History and a minor in global health. She served as the President of the Northwestern Chapter and also worked in the National Office as the Director of Program Management. Immediately after college, Kristina worked at the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions. Currently, she is working on Ohio Governor Strickland’s policy team, working on many projects from the implementation of federal stimulus dollars in Ohio to health care initiatives in the state. Kristina plans to continue to integrate health policy, social justice and other global health issues in her work and future plans.
