Partner Search Fellows Launch - Onwards and Upwards Welcome to our Partner Search Fellow Program (PSFP) blogging for our 2010 trip! For those of you who may not know, Hannah and I will be traveling to Nicaragua, El Salvador, Ecuador, and Peru between January and early May, 2010 to meet with grassroots community-based health organizations and community workers with the goal of learning of potential partners for new GlobeMed chapters! This is the pilot Fellows Program for GlobeMed, and I am definitely excited to be a part of creating and enacting this program which will ensure that GlobeMed chapters are able to collaborate with excellent community-based health organizations and further the movement for global health equity in true GlobeMed fashion.

I have been working in the National Office for the past few years, focusing on partnership work...so to have a chance to be a part of PSFP is a truly unique and amazing opportunity. I hope to work someday in the field of global health as a partnership enabler in some capacity (I don't think that's an actual formal job, but there are certainly variations of the theme throughout the field...right? I hope so...), so I know this experience of meeting with organizations, realizing the challenges inherent in our approach, and understanding even more deeply the ins and outs of transnational collaboration will be invaluable in terms of my future goals. I know there will be bumps along the way, barriers and difficulties that neither Hannah nor I can fully anticipate...but I know we will handle whatever comes our way. So I am nervous, yes...but mostly I feel really lucky and excited.

In short, I am truly looking forward to all we are going to learn, the incredible people we are going to meet, and the chance to continue to support the awesomeness that is GlobeMed. We are going to be updating and musing throughout our trip on this blog, so please keep checking in and offer your thoughts!

Onwards and upwards...1 month and counting. :)
