World Health Day: What could you do?

by Ankur Asthana on April 7, 2010

Today, in order to celebrate World Health Day , GlobeMed is asking: how far can $1, $5, or $10 go to improve the health of people around the world?

$1 can provide oral rehydration therapy to prevent a child from suffering deadly dehydration and diarrhea

$5 can purchase a bed net to protect a family against malaria

$10 can buy a HIV rapid test to prevent the spread of AIDS

GlobeMed is a network of 19 university chapters across the U.S. that partner with grassroots health organizations around the world to improve health in impoverished communities. GlobeMed is driven by the notion that every individual deserves the highest quality care. We know that students can actively begin to make an impact through a partnership model rooted in solidarity and led by community leaders.

In the spirit of World Health Day, GobeMed is challenging every person to make a small contribution online at http://www.globemed.org/get_involved/donate/ to support new partnerships between students and communities that will play an important role in improving health around the world.
