8:00pm – 9:00pm
GlobeMed at GWU will hold it's first annual educational seminar as part of a kickoff event for Africa Week. The even will educate general members about GlobeMed's health partnership with the Rwandan Village Concept Project as well as to introduce the mission and values of GlobeMed to all GW students who attended. The night will feature two wonderful speakers: Alyson Lipsky from GW's Africa Center for Health and Human Security and Danielle Kuczynski from GW's Center for Global Development. Ms. Lipsky has done work in Rwanda and will discuss the challenges in reconstructing the health care system in the country following the 1994 genocide. Ms. Kuczynski has written significantly about barriers to care for those infected with HIV/AIDS in South Africa and is well versed in global health policy.
Students will also lead round table discussions focusing on the five RVCP microprojects.
