Examples of Students Advancing Community Health

Students from Truman State, Northwestern, DePaul, and Penn State have all organized summer trips through which students will work on specific projects with their partner grassroots health organizations. These experiences will also strengthen ties between university campuses and the communities which have partnered with GlobeMed, thereby laying the foundation for new and ambitious projects in the future. Truman State has partnered with Maison de Naissaince, a birthing home in rural Haiti focusing on maternal and child health; Northwestern has partnered with the HOPE Center, a health center in Ho, Ghana targeting village health; DePaul has partnered with ASOSAP, a community-based organization working with indigenous Pokomchi in Guatemala; Penn State has partnered with CURE Honduras, a health organization addressing child health, specifically orthopedic needs.
