GlobeMed at Penn State hosts forum on global health

This past Saturday, the GlobeMed chapter at Penn State hosted a day of discussions, workshops, and speakers to address the challenges of global health. More than 50 students from Penn State University participated in conference.
The afternoon workshops covered a wide variety of topics, such as effective ways of working with grassroots health organizations, pathways to global health careers, and the political campaign platforms of the presidential candidates in the upcoming 2008.
The night concluded with a dinner featuring Dr. Joia Mukherjee, the medical director of Partners In Health (www.pih.org). Dr. Mukherjee discussed her work with Partners In Health and the importance of integrating ideals of solidarity into the work of global health.
