GlobeMed at Truman State received "Best New Organization" from the university's Center for Student Involvement during their awards ceremony this past week.

Christine Lin, the current President of the chapter reflected on the award: "We've come a long way in a period of less than a year, and I am extremely proud and honored to be part of such a passionate and energetic group of students that mobilizes resources and strengthens the capacity [of Maison de Naissance] to improve the health of mothers and children in Haitian communities."

GlobeMed at Truman State has partnered with Maison de Naissance, a birthing home in Torbeck, Haiti and has supported vital projects during the course of the year. Their efforts are aimed at making valuable contributions to the capacities of the birthing home to effectively address maternal mortality and child health in rural Haiti. Through their ongoing work and campus programs, GlobeMed at Truman State is not only making a direct impact in the lives of communities in Haiti, but also harnessing the growing interest in global health on campus and creating deeper engagement and learning opportunities for students.
