GlobeMed National Office Welcomes New Development Director, Sharonda Glover

As GlobeMed continues to grow to many more chapters impacting students’ career paths and the health of communities around the world, a major focus this year will be in building the sustainability and capacity of the GlobeMed National Office. Sharonda, the newest member of the GlobeMed Family, will play a critical role in developing the communities of support necessary for us to continue to advance the movement for global health equity.
Sharonda is a native of Philadelphia and attended high school in Newark, Delaware. She graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Telecommunications and moved to Chicago to pursue and obtain a Masters degree in Integrated Marketing Communications at Roosevelt University.
Sharonda got her first experience with other global initiatives in the summer of 2001 when she visited England, Ireland and Wales with the People to People Student Ambassador Program. Her experiences living and traveling with people from many different countries, backgrounds, and cultures opened her eyes to the incredible diversity of human experience but also its essential commonality. The seed of a commitment to work on global issues was planted.
Over the past four years, Sharonda’s commitment to youth volunteer work in Chicago has been a primary focus, but recently, her younger brother’s naval deployment throughout Asia and best friend’s medical work in Ethiopia inspired Sharonda to join the movement for global health equity.
Sharonda’s new role as GlobeMed’s Development Director will tie her professional experience in marketing communications with her passion to advance a broad movement for global health equity. Her role will be centered on generating the resources needed for GlobeMed to grow, developing key messages about GlobeMed, and communicating those messages to its growing community of supporters. Sharonda is very excited to work alongside all of the National Office staff to help spread GlobeMed’s message and further its important mission.
