Paurvi Bhatt, Senior Director of HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment, and Care at Levi Strauss and Company, leads the company's global Employee HIV/AIDS Program. She has worked on initiatives on HIV/AIDS, corporate social responsibility, and international health for organizations including USAID, US GAO, CARE, and Abbott Laboratories. She serves on many technical advisory groups and is on the Board of the Global AIDS Alliance and the Global Health Benefits Institute. She joined the GlobeMed Board of Directors in May after being introduced to our organization through Erin Linville, our current Board Chair. Here is Paurvi's message to the GlobeMed team:
"Recently, someone asked me why I chose to join the GlobeMed Board of Directors. I told them that it is because I want to invest in the next generation of leaders in health. I have been working in global health issues for over 25 years now, and feel very strongly that new energy needs to be engaged for us to reach our goals. For me, that means stepping aside and proactively investing in the pipeline of young leaders that are engaged to make a sustainable difference on key health issues. Doing this requires more that simply replacing myself. Changing the paradigm of our current approach to global health issues means creating the space, igniting innovation, and providing the mentorship needed to think differently to act purposefully. My commitment to you is that as I keep moving in my career, I'm doing everything that I can to support you as you move purposefully on in yours. Thank you so much for taking up this challenge to believe that our global community can be healthier and will thrive!"
GlobeMed is looking forward to learning from Paurvi's unique experiences in the field of global health. She brings the perfect mix of professional public health knowledge and skill, connections to major corporations and funding opportunities, as well as a deep connection to the mission to inspire and train the next generation of global health leaders. Because of her remarkable experience with corporations, GlobeMed is thrilled that she will be serving on our fundraising committee. We are eager to start working with Paurvi to further the movement for global health equity!
