GlobeMed’s 3rd Leadership Institute pushes our Network to achieve exciting new goals!
Posted on Sep 17, 2009 by Ashley Hagaman
Last weekend 50 leaders from across the GlobeMed network gathered in Evanston, Illinois to rev up for another exciting year of GlobeMed, both on their campus and with their partners around the world.
From September 11th through the 13th, these incredibly passionate and dedicated individuals participated in intense skill building sessions, discussions, and workshops. Aurelien Vetil, Co-President of GlobeMed at UNC - Chapel Hill, explained that, " Having three full days to dedicate ourselves to GlobeMed has an incredible effect on our preparation for the coming year and our motivation. I cannot wait to talk of our experiences, the inspiring stories of other chapters, and GlobeMed's goals with the rest of our chapter." Leaders like Aurelien left the weekend with a powerful sense of the strength and passion embedded in each member, and how, with all of these individuals combined, our network is destined to fulfill our shared vision.
The Institute began with a dialogue about personal motivations and vocations surrounding each participant's involvement in global health and social justice work. Our leaders continued the weekend sharing best practices, problem solving challenges, and comprising strategic plans for their individual chapters. At the end of the weekend, the group came together and set, as a collective network, goals for the rest of the 2010 school year. After feeding off one another's energy for the past three days, the group set some ambitious and exciting goals. Below are the first network-wide goals set by our chapters for Sept 2009 - Aug 2010:
Number of Chapters - 19Number of New Chapter Founders recruited - 15
Number of student members - 515
Percent of Chapters retained - 100%
Cumulative money Raised - $100,000
Public health projects completed - 19 The national office would like to extend a sincere and personal thank you to each and every leader that shared last weekend with us. You are what makes GlobeMed tick. Each of your powerful stories and intense commitment and passion to our shared mission and vision inspires us each and every day. We can't express enough just how excited we are to see what our network can do this year. It truly is all of your tremendous work makes this movement a reality. We look forward to continuing to share your inspiring stories through the year!
