Summer progress gears GlobeMed Network up for the upcoming year

Here's a sample of some of the progress we've made during the summer months!
Summer interns create training resources for students across the country
Paul Rotert, Maggie Carlin, Hannah Robbins, and Chang Lu have been working diligently in GlobeMed's national offices to create new training resources for students at GlobeMed Chapters to use. These resources, such as "how to effectively structure your team" and "organizing a trip to a developing country", are being built on a brand new GlobeMed Intranet that students from across the country will be able to access online! The interns' work will greatly accelerate the learning and skills of GlobeMed leaders.
Excitement builds for launch of new curriculum, globalhealthU
GlobeMed will be launching a student-designed curriculum, globalhealthU, which will provide students the knowledge and tools to critically understand challenges and solutions in global health. globalhealthU is centered on "themes" (such as Health and Human Rights, Health and Structural Violence, and Gender and Global Health) that students will explore through discussions, workshops, and public events (ex. lectures, documentaries). globalhealthU will be organized by GlobeMed Chapters with the national organization providing the core curriculum and support.
Leadership Institute coming up in September; Global Health Summit planned for April 2-4, 2009
The Leadership Institute is soon approaching, and student-leaders are getting registered! The Institute, held on September 12-14, 2009 at Northwestern, will train leaders at GlobeMed Chapters to effectively organize strategies and programs. GlobeMed's third annual Global Health Summit is planned for April 2-4, 2009! This year's theme is "From Idea to Implementation: Securing Health as a Human Right". The Summit is expected to attract tens of experts and leaders in global health and over 100 students from Chapters across the country.
New Chapter websites will allow students to build a stronger Network
In the coming months, the public will be able to access "Chapter sites" from the GlobeMed Network home page. These "Chapter sites" will be edited and organized by each of the individual Chapters on an ongoing basis and will provide a direct lens into their work and impact. These sites will feature information about each Chapter's leadership, projects, events, and a blog.
