GlobeMed at Northwestern hosts a year-long series of on-campus global health discussions, workshops, and lectures as part of its globalhealthU curriculum. Through these events, GlobeMed members develop a foundational understanding of issues impacting our partner organization and global health more broadly.
For the 2008-2009 academic year, GlobeMed at Northwestern will be exploring the following issues:
- Introduction to Global Health (Sept-Oct)
- Health, Poverty, and Structural Violence (Nov-Dec)
- Development. International Aid, and Globalization (Jan-Feb)
- Health and Human Rights (Mar-Apr)
- Gender and Global Health (Jun-Jul)
Past Events
GlobeMed at Northwestern has a history of hosting powerful discussions and lectures on campus. Highlights include:
- Food For Thought: A workshop on nutrition and health with Bill Leonard (Dept of Anthropology, Northwestern University)
- Health and Human Rights: Resolving Bioethical Dilemmas in the Developing World with Stuart Rennie, Daniel Halperin, Laurie Zoloth, Gilbert Burnham, and Mark Sheldon.
