David Cromer, MD
Dr. Cromer retired as Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in 2000. Although retired from medical practice, Dr. Cromer serves on several boards, including Illiniois State Medical Insurance Exchange, Ministry Mentors, and Friends of Battered Women & Their Children. He was a team leader for the Health Ministry of the Lutheran Church of the Ascension, a Rotary Club of Evanston Lighthouse member, and a volunteer for the Community Health Clinic of Chicago. Dr. Cromer has made several international trips to provide medical care in resource-limited settings. He graduated from Northwestern University Medical School. Currently, he lives in Wisconsin, spending much of his winter in Florida.
Brian T. Hanson
Hanson is the Associate Director of the Roberta Buffett Center for International and Comparative Studies at Northwestern University. Prior to his work at Northwestern, Hanson served as the foreign policy advisor to a US Senator, a government affair representative for John Deere & Company, and a research analyst for the US Information Agency. He teaches courses on international political economy, globalization, and international trade. He is part of MIT research efforts on globalization, specifically interested in the politics of trade liberalization. Outside of academia, Hanson is a Director and Vice Chair for Programming of the Stanly Foundation, a consultant to the Holthues Trust, a Director of the TNH foundation, and Program Chair for the Chicago Global Donors Network. He graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa and did his doctoral work in political science at MIT.
Erin Linville
Erin Linville is a consultant at Bain & Co, a management consulting firm. Prior to Bain, Erin worked in communications for the Mitch Daniels for Governor Campaign in Indiana. After a successful campaign, she joined his Administration, serving as a policy and project director for the health and human service agency. She also led an on-site HIV/AIDS market research project in Namibia and Botswana through the Global Health Initiative, a Gates Foundation grantee.
Erin earned her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, where she was inducted into the Beta Gamma honor society, and her B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame. She has served on Board committees for the Kohl Children's Museum of Greater Chicago and Notre Dame Alumni Club of Indianapolis.
Ashley Pasen
Ashley became involved in GlobeMed as a freshman at Northwestern University and eventually served as the first National Public Relations Chair when the organization received 501(c)3 status in 2003. She later served as President of the organization for two years, during which time she had the honor of traveling to Ho, Ghana for the unveiling of the H.O.P.E. Center (GlobeMed at Northwestern University's partner organization) in April, 2006. After graduating from Northwestern University in June of 2006 with a degree in Spanish and International Studies, Ashley remained in Chicago where she currently serves on the boards of two nonprofit organizations, both of which focus on health care.
Cheryl Middaugh (Chair)
Middaugh is as a nonprofit consultant with a focus on development and fundraising. She is also the co-founder of a fair trade fundraising company, the Mora and Mahogany Corporation, which specializes in providing high-quality, fair trade products for large institutional and school-based fundraising initiatives. Cheryl first became involved with GlobeMed during her undergraduate career at Northwestern University. She graduated in June of 2004 with a degree in American Studies. Cheryl currently lives in Chicago and has maintained an informal advisory relationship with GlobeMed during her years after graduation.
Keith Sarpolis, MD
Dr. Sarpolis has been a practicing physician of general internal medicine since 1987 and maintains his office in Evanston, Illinois, where he is on the staff of Evanston Hospital and holds a faculty appointment at Northwestern Medical School. His interests lie in the areas of chemical dependence treatment and public health policy. Dr. Sarpolis attended undergraduate and medical school at the University of Michigan, and came to Chicago, where he did his residency training at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. He resides in Evanston, Illinois with his wife and two children.
Ron Sims
Sims, a Northwestern alumnus, is currently the President of Lower Wacker in Chicago. He formerly served as Senior Vice President of Leo Burnett, and NW Ayer (all advertising agencies). Sims serves on several boards including Northwestern University's Communication School, Hubbard Street Dance, and the Chicago Yacht Club and is a member of the Chicago Crime Commission. He also serves as Chairman of Northwestern University's John Evans Club. Sims lives in Evanston and is kept busy with his 4 kids and 12 grandchildren.
