Where GlobeMed Chapter leaders get prepared for the exciting year ahead!

The weekend will bring together leaders from each of GlobeMed’s 16 chapters - as well as some new Chapter Founders - for hands-on training as we embark on another exciting year for GlobeMed. Registration for the Leadership Institute is now open.

When:

Friday 4:00pm, September 12th to Sunday afternoon, September 14th. Participants should plan to arrive in Chicago by Friday early-afternoon and plan their departure for late afternoon on Sunday.

Where:

Northwestern University, 620 Library Place (Evanston, IL). For directions see here

Who should come?

TWO leaders from each chapter: We recommend two people from each chapter because this allows us to keep the group small (student:staff ratio can be low for high impact), and the participants will be able to share the experience with the other person from their Chapter.

How do I register?

Deadline for registration is September 1.

What to expect

Key concepts and frameworks: We will cover important ideas in leadership, student engagement, and global health that will inform and help shape your capacities as a leader on your campus. Understanding the basics of these core areas will enable you to lead your Chapter effectively.

Training on running your Chapter: We’ll take a close look at key elements in running your Chapter, everything from organizing a trip to a developing country, managing finances, to raising funds on your campus. These applied training workshops will give you an in-depth understanding of how to run a GlobeMed Chapter.

Community building: You’ll get a chance to meet peers from new Chapters and ‘veterans’ (like Jon Lichkus from Penn State) who have involved in GlobeMed for close to 3 years now! By contributing your ideas, learning from other people, and building a community of friends in GlobeMed, you’ll have the chance to draw upon vast amounts of knowledge and contacts throughout the year.
