GlobeMed Chapters host a year-long series of on-campus global health discussions, workshops, and lectures as part of its globalhealthU curriculum. Through these events, GlobeMed members develop a foundational understanding of issues impacting our partner organization and global health more broadly.
globalhealthU is structured as 8 monthly themes, each broken down into 4 tracks: History, Policy, Case Study, and Chapter/Partner Spotlight. At each weekly staff meeting, chapter members explore that month's theme through the lens of one of these tracks. Through GlobeMed's weekly newsletter, The GlobeMed Current, the National Office provides the materials for that week's globalhealthU discussion.
For the 2010-2011 academic year, the 8 monthly themes are:
- Infectious Diseases (Oct)
- Philosophical Frameworks of Global Health (Nov)
- Religion and Global Health (Dec)
- Nutrition and the Food Fight (Jan)
- Mental Health (Feb)
- Conflict and Health (Mar)
- LGBTQ and Global Health (April)
- Economic Institutions and Health (May)
